The ASFA Web Awards (AWAs) were created to honor outstanding websites and their creators. We don't have a magic formula for creating great sites, but we hope through these awards we can encourage artists, highlight copyright issues, and help recognize some of the wonderful sites out there. In effect, expanding the web for science fiction and fantasy art and generating some welcomed PR for all involved.
 

Criteria
 
The AWAs will be awarded to webmasters of science fiction and fantasy orientated sites or pages featuring art and/or artists. The nominees will be judged on content, presentation, overall site design, and adherence to copyright laws.

The awards come in three forms, Art Web Sites, Art Web Page(s), and Special Mention. Each form also includes several sub-catagories. Keeping in mind the AWAs are for recognizing overall quality and design of web sites, not the actual art contained therein, these sub-catagories include:

• Art Professional: publishers, galleries, and shops dedicated in whole or in part to science fiction and fantasy art.
• Artist: sites designed to highlight the art of a specific artist.
• Archival: sites containing collections that hightlight science fiction and fantasy art or artists.
• Fan: sites created to spotlight amateur science fiction and fantasy art or artists.

The winning sites will be published in the ASFA Quarterly, our website, and notification of the awards will be passed along to various PR affiliates. Please note the frequency that the AWAs are awarded is at the sole discretion of ASFA but will be awarded no less than once a year.
 
Winners are chosen only once for a specific site or page unless the material and design changes significantly. In such a case, subsequent awards may be given so long as the nominated site meets the award criteria. The awarding of AWAs are permanent unless the content of the site falls under copyright violation, or the site is no longer maintained in a manor initially recognized by the the award.
