Rob Alexander is often described as a Canadian-born watercolour artist and illustrator. But to most people, he is the artist who paints pictures of sad-eyed women, eerie beings who perch in trees and carve mysterious messages in skulls, hauntingly beautiful landscapes, and young children who either discover, imagine or make beautiful, wondrous things.
Rob has been able to explore and share his views of the world by working with companies like Berkley Publishing, Harper Collins, Amazing Stories, The Duelist and Inquest magazines. In the past few years he has won awards such as Best of Show at World Fantasy Con and Worldcon, a Chesley Award from the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists, and his art has appeared in Spectrum, the book series on the best in contemporary fantastic art. He has done card art for over 8 collectable card games, including Magic; the Gathering, Legend of the Five Rings, one based on Tolkien’s Middle Earth, and numerous covers for gaming books.
A little over two years ago, he relocated to a small house on five acres in rural Oregon, with his wife and the cat, and hopes of slowing down his life a bit. So far, the schedule remains unchanged, but every time he walks through the bracken, he discovers new ideas and stories to explore and paint.
