Beth Hansen
http://www.wyrdhaven.com
Beth Hansen began drawing images of fantasy in her teens, inspired by fantasy fiction and faery myths. She continued to draw and paint in her spare time as a serious hobby, giving artwork as gifts to family and doing the occasional portrait commission. In 2000, after years of dabbling with an assortment of media, Beth studied traditional Dutch and Flemish portrait and still life oil painting techniques in the studio of Jeff Hurinenko in St. Paul, Minnesota.
In December of 2002 Beth was awarded 3rd Place in Duirwaigh Gallery's Emerging Artists Competition. Her visionary work has been featured in Seventh House Publishing's "Seasons of the Witch" calendar in 2003 and
will appear in the 2004 calendar as well. Beth has also done numerous illustrations for "Tales of the Unanticipated", a speculative fiction small press publication.
Beth blends realism with romance in her oil paintings and graphite & pastel paintings. Working in layers to achieve luminous skin tones and glowing light effects, she creates magical works inspired by faery lore
and mythology.
