Maurizio Manzieri is a leading European artist in the SF/Fantasy field and recent winner of the 2000 Italia Award as Best Professional Artist in the fantastic field. He paints exclusively on Macintosh computers, experimenting with all the possibilities and techniques offered by the latest 2D and 3D software packages. His artwork has appeared on several international magazines, including Interzone, the Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and the SFWA Bulletin. His latest Interzone cover has been selected for Spectrum 6, the Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art, by Underwood Books (USA, 1999).

In Italy the artist collaborates with Mondadori and Fanucci, the main publishing houses, realizing science fiction covers for the most prestigious authors in the science fiction field.

Additionally, he collaborates with Virtual Views, a company specializing in multimedia science fiction. In 1996, Virtual Views published an avant-garde CD-Rom, unique in its own genre: "Sinkha", a science fiction novel, packed with state-of-the-art pictures and animation sequences, and winner of a bronze award by Newmedia Invision Awards.

Maurizio's computer-generated illustrations have been shown in various conventions and digital exhibits. In 2001 he will be Artist Guest of Honor with a solo SF exhibit for Italcon XXVII - ALTROCON 2001, the Italian National SF Convention.
